As advertised by Bose itself, the Bose hearing aid headphones let the users “listen to the world their way.” These “hearphones” let you hear all kinds of ambient sounds in the place you’re at while effectively offering you the choice to block the rest of the noise or background noise you deem unnecessary or distracting.

Features of Bose hearing aid headphones

The Bose hearing aid cum headphones are endowed with some of the interesting features.

  • It has one of the best Bluetooth Connectivity which makes it stand out
  • If you charge it once, you can use it all through the day
  • You can hear the music in the background and listen to the conversations around you at the same time.
  • With one tap, you can even take phone calls on it

However, you need to do some of the following things to make the best use of your “Hearphones.”

  • You need to install the Bose Hear App in order to use them
  • You can set the mode and volume directly on the headphone
  • You need the App to tune the “mode” functionality
  • You need to tune each mode to get the perfect sound for yourself

Once you have made them to adapt to your needs, you can make the most of it. However, you can still think twice before buying these headphones because of their high price. If you think you can manage with your hearing, there are tons of other headphones on the market with good quality noise canceling and Bluetooth connectivity so you can try them out too.

How Do I make my Laptop Last Longer?

0
LAPTOPS VS DESKTOPS

With more desktops being replaced by their portable counterparts, you might wonder if you should make your laptop your primary device too.

Do laptops give a good battery life to help you power through the day? How can you increase the longevity of these machines? Let us find out.

LAPTOPS VS DESKTOPS:

Here is what you need to ask yourself – do you need more bang for your buck in terms of price for performance or do you need the portability?

Desktops are traditionally known for the former – their reliability.

Laptops have traditionally been more portable. Desktops typically have a lifespan of about twice that of laptops and win the reliability test.

Yet, things have changed in the last few years. Laptops are today as reliable and powerful as your desktop could be, and many come with a 3 year extended warranty plan that has got you covered.

Why Do You Need to Take Care of Your Laptop’s Battery?

Here is the thing – each component of your laptop, including the processor and the hard disk, give out heat when in operation.

In a small size as a laptop, this heat becomes a serious concern. With rising temperatures, the fan has to speed up as or else the electronic components can stop functioning.

Additionally, constantly running your laptop with excessive heat can cause expansion of metal components leading to sudden shutdowns. It could also cause the tiny metal contacts in circuits to break.

How Do You Make Your Laptop Last Longer? Step By Step Instructions

Here are some of the things that you can do to make your laptop last longer.

Take Care of Your Laptop

1. Take Care of Your Laptop

Do not use place your laptops over wool and cloth or any form of insulation. Make sure nothing covers the cooling vents of your laptop.

What can you do?

Avoid using your laptops for long stretches of time. If you must use it, consider investing in a cheap cooling pad. They are pads which connect to the USB ports of your laptop to provide additional cooling.

2. Clean Your Laptop to Get rid of Dust and Dirt

cleaning your Mac laptop

You need to be mindful of the damage caused by dust seeping into the laptop. Dust can block cooling vents and heat up your laptop. It can also cause the contacts under the keyboard to fail and may result in intermittent keyboard functioning.

If the fan gets blocked, it can prevent efficient cooling.

What can you do?

Make sure you clean your laptop regularly. Dust them from time to time, particularly the vents. If you can, try investing in a cheap vacuum cleaner designed for laptops.

3. Work On Your Handling of the Laptop

Choose the right laptop

Make sure you handle your laptop with care. Shocks and knocks can cause problems internally as much as it can externally. Keeping it away from liquids and food can go a long way in the lifetime of the laptop. Make sure it is away from any form of moisture and do not drop it.

What can you do?

The standard bag your laptop comes in may get the job done but to be absolutely sure, it wouldn’t hurt to go the extra mile in buying a special bag for your laptop with padding so it becomes shock resistant in case you drop it.

3. Look for Efficient Battery Care:

Longer Laptop Battery Life

Laptop batteries will be the first things that need replacing in the long run as they continue to charge and discharge. If you will be traveling or not using the laptop for long, it is a good idea to charge the batteries to about 60%. Then, remove it to store it in a cool place. Never leave a battery completely discharged for a long time as this may render them inoperable.

What can you do?

Try to save up charge by not stressing your laptop. This will ensure you don’t use much charge and discharge cycles up and will significantly increase the life of the battery.

Turn off the wireless devices of your laptop like Bluetooth and WiFi if you are not using them. Remove unnecessary USB connections that draw power from your laptop when it’s running on battery.

Also, try installing power optimization programs. Applications like Battery Optimizer by ReviverSoft can go a long way in giving you that extra mile of a charge.

4. Go for Scheduled Periodic Maintenance:

Periodic Maintenance

Much like a car, your laptop consists of many individual components that keep everything going the way its supposed to. So it is only right that you maintain it the way it is supposed to. Make it a point to run inbuilt programs like disk defragmenter and disk cleanup.

What can you do?

Check for disk errors at least once a month.
Invest and install a good antivirus solution and have the application check for updates and scan periodically for viruses.

5. Upgrade RAM:

Upgrade RAM Laptop

You need to look at optimizing the laptop’s performance to get the best results from your battery.

Upgrading the RAM, for instance, will go a long way in increasing the life of your laptop. Not only will it increase the performance but also will help you conserve power.

When your laptop runs out of RAM, it will run off the hard disk by using swap files which are more powerful and time-consuming.

What can you do?

Upgrading RAM ensures your laptop will have a long way to go before it has to use the swap file. However, this isn’t a viable solution for all laptops as some have their RAMs soldered onto the board and will have no way to upgrade it. Check with a nearby service outlet to see if your RAM can be upgraded.

Get the optimum battery performance for your laptop. Following these simple steps can go a long way in increasing the lifespan and the longevity of your laptop. Sure laptops need a little bit of care but that’s a small price to pay when you get the portability they offer.

What is a Good Processor Speed for a Gaming Computer?

0
Processor Speed for a Gaming Computer

While everything matters from storage space to the RAM, it’s your laptop’s processors that do most of the talking. After graphics cards, computer processors is what governs the performance for gaming PCs.

So, what is a good processor speed for your gaming computer?

The answer to this question would vary each year, thanks to technological advancements, and we look at what you should expect in 2018.

We shall be going price wise, starting with a budget user who’s new to PC gaming and then upwards to a power user who wouldn’t mind spending a bit on the best gaming equipment out there.

Each of the processors will be tested in the same benchmark PC having the following configuration for a fair test: 16GB RAM, GTX 1070, SSD.

The following games will be used: The Witcher 3, Battlefield 1 and Ashes of the Singularity. They will be run at 1440p.

1. For Budget Oriented Builds/ For First Time Gamers

Celeron G3950

Intel has ruled this segment with its Celeron G3950. This processor may be devoid of any high-end features like hyperthreading but what it lacks, it makes up with a really cheap price tag: About 53 pounds.

It’s a really affordable choice considering what you get: A dual-core, a dual threaded processor with a TDP of 51 watts. There will be no overclocking and a maximum clock speed it will go is 3Ghz as it is not unlocked and the memory speed is 2400MHZ.

The multitasking performance is at par with higher processors, but it falls behind in more intensive tasks.

You have a test bench score of 38FPS with Witcher 3, which is pretty impressive considering the price of the processor. The Battlefield 1 results were not that great however at 24FPS which is understandable as the game itself requires a quad-core processor as its minimum requirements.

Overall, this CPU isn’t highly performing by any means, in about three years, games will cease to work on it. However, for competitive titles and for older games, it’s still is worth it, with low end older games like CS: GO performing really well while using only a single core. The maximum temperature it reached only 39°C, and it only draws 67W from the SMPS too. If you want some cheap gaming at bang prices, this is the CPU to go for.

  • Config: Dual-Core Processor
  • Speed: 3GHZ
  • TDP:51W

2.For Medium Builds/ For people who are upgrading from previous gaming PCs

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X Processor

This area is best left to AMD with its medium-range processors performing significantly better than their Intel counterparts. And even in 2017, it is no different with the AMD Ryzen 5 1500X. It is the cheapest processor in AMD’s new architecture- Ryzen. But this certainly doesn’t mean it’s not strong by any means; it can surely get some real work done. At approximately $300 plus excluding import and taxes, this quad-core CPU offers unmatched performance for its price.

In the test rig, it averaged about 54.1FPS with Witcher 3. This was undoubtedly better than any Intel CPU we tested in this price bracket and was very impressive. It clocked about 63FPS in Battlefield 1 which was expected and 47.8FPS in the CPU intensive title Ashes of the Singularity.

This CPU gave rock hard results for gaming however it had moderate results in normal application tests. The multitasking was subpar at most with cheaper Intel competitors beating it. If you want a solid CPU purely for gaming, this is the CPU to go for.

  • Config: Quad Core Processor
  • Speed:3.5GHZ base clock, 3.7GHZ with boost
  • TDP:65W

3. For High end builds/ High-End Gamers and Power users

Core i7 7700K

Intel wins the segment here with its i7-7700K. It’s got significantly lower power consumption than its competitors and a higher cache size than other Intel chips. Intel faces stiff competition from AMD, but the i7 just graces past the competition emerging as the apparent winner. The single-core and the application tests, in particular, were times when Intel’s 14nm manufacturing process highlighted its efficiency.

The test rig benchmarks backed up the Intel’s standing for Witcher 3 gave about 74FPS in maxed out settings. Battlefield 1 gave about 73FPS which were more than playable. Ashes of the Singularity gave about 59FPS.

When it came to gaming, the i7 smashed all benchmarks, however, in multicore tests, the processor lagged slightly behind AMD’s Ryzen offerings as they have eight cores. But the difference is hardly felt though.

  • Config: Quad Core
  • Speed:4.2GHZ base clock, 4.5GHZ with Turbo
  • TDP:91W

4.For Ultra High end builds/Avid gamers and Super Users

RYZEN Threadripper 1920X Processor

This is another highly competitive group with just two contenders: Intel’s Core i9-7920X and AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Mind you; these are two of the world’s fastest processors around. And after comprehensive testing, there emerged one winner: Intel’s i9.

With a monstrous 12 cores and 24 threads, the CPU also demanded very high power from the SMPS of 165Watts. This means that in addition to it being immensely expensive, you also needed a powerful enough motherboard to run it.

In benchmark PC tests, it absolutely blew the scores with Battlefield 1 clocking at 119FPS. Witcher 3 gave about 133FPS and Ashes of the Singularity, about 96FPS average. This is the highest by far we’ve ever seen on all-out tests and rightly so considering the fact that this behemoth of a CPU is priced at around $1,200.

With a high power requirement and an exorbitant price tag, the i9 is focused on a niche set of consumers aiming for the very best in computing power without hesitating on laying down some serious dough.

  • Config:12Core Processor
  • Speed:2.9GHZ base clock, 4.4 Maximum speed
  • TDP:124W

With that, we conclude the extensive tests for the most powerful CPUs the world has to offer. In this time and generation of tech, the CPU is highly fragmented with tons of processors with various offerings that can be overwhelming and a tad too cumbersome to choose. We hope this test helps you pick and have the best of experience with the CPU you need.

Battery Last Longer On Your Laptop

As laptops grow in popularity, people are trying to find the best desktop replacements in the market. A good desktop replacement laptop will have a superior processing power, large screen display, decent audio output and a host of other beneficial features that provide a suitable substitute to a desktop computer.

Today’s laptops offer all the features that are found on a desktop besides providing a portable and a lightweight solution to all your needs. Brands such as Apple, Dell, ASUS, Lenovo and Sony have launched their desktop replacement laptops in the market that cater to all kind of tastes and budgets.

If you are looking to get more battery juice out from your laptop, you need to have a look at how you are using your laptop.

The First thing – Determining Your Battery Health

Determining Your Battery Health

Determine your laptop’s battery health and analyze it from time to time. In case the battery fails to perform as per the company prescribed standards, it is probably time to buy a new battery pack.

The idea of portability is, of course, brought to reality by laptop computers with the help of rechargeable batteries. Without a power source that can function independently, the laptop will be unrealizable.

Achieving mobility for the laptop is greatly influenced by the batteries. With the proper information regarding these power providers, you can make a good choice of which laptop to use.

The older batteries that were previously used in laptops are Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) and Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH).
These suffered for the Dreaded Memory Effect which is the loss of full recharge capability when repeatedly discharged to the same amount and recharged before complete discharge.

Lithium-Ion batteries are typically the choice for laptop computers because of the inexpensiveness and efficiency of the device. Laptop batteries are usually quoted in terms of the cells. When shopping for a notebook computer, you will likely come across the 6-cells, 9-cells and 12-cells specifications.

How Do You Do It?

There are several methods to determine your battery’s capacity with respect to its initial specifications.

1. Some Batteries Have an Inbuilt Status Indicator

Push and hold the status button located below the battery pack. The LED lights indicate the battery’s current charge. Pressing the status switch for over three seconds will show the battery health. If zero LEDs appear, your battery is working healthy and is working at greater than 80 percent of its specified capacity. In case all the five lights appear, your battery is working at less than 60 percent at its specified capacity.

2. Check in the BIOS

You can enter the system BIOS by pressing the F2 function key while the Dell logo appears during the booting process. You can access the “battery health” option under the “system” menu. This gives you a qualitative analysis of the laptop battery.

3. Install a Power Management App

Power Management App

The power management system under FC6 calculates the maximum battery capacity at its full charge. It generates a percentage depending on the factory specification charge. You can view this information by right-clicking on the battery meter and then selecting information and expand the “more” area on the “device information” panel.

The Top Tips to Make your Battery Last Longer

Here are the few things that you can do to make your battery last longer than before.

1. Make it Go Through Full Recharge Cycles

Occasionally drain out the battery fully. This ensures that the battery remains calibrated with your device and you wouldn’t have to worry about instances where your battery level shows 30% but you actually have only 5% juice remaining, which can lead to unexpected shutdowns.

2. Remove the Battery When Not Needed

If you are not going to use your laptop for a while, it is a good idea to charge your device to around 50-60% and then remove the battery. Of course, you could only do it if your laptop has a removable battery.

3. Check for battery performance

We talked about it above, and you could check just how good your battery is compared to the original capacity it came in. All batteries have decreased capacities with age, but proper care is sure to increase its shelf life.

4. Tinker with the settings

What you need to be looking at is improving the battery life of your laptop, and you could do it with a few simple settings.

  • Dim the screen light of your device to only what you need. The brighter the screen, the more battery juice do you consume.
  • Disable WiFi and Bluetooth when you do not need it.
  • Disconnect other peripherals like USB drives when you are not using them; they consume battery too.
  • Change your power settings to ‘battery saver’
  • Look for efficiency. For instance, SSD drives are far more battery efficient than normal HDD ones.
  • Do not keep your laptop plugged in all the time. Your laptop battery needs to discharge to stay calibrated and to leave it at 100% all the time makes it ‘forget’ what it is supposed to do.

5. Check the Applications

Some applications boot right at the start up and start consuming battery. And more importantly, you don’t need them. Check which applications are consuming more power and whether you actually need them. If not, turn them off. You could do so by going to the System settings on your Windows laptop, selecting Battery and finally, Battery Usage by App.

Obtaining a replacement battery

You have the option of purchasing a new laptop replacement battery from the service store. There are few cases in which you can get a replacement battery under the warranty period.

However, in case your battery is degraded, it is advised to purchase a new battery if you wish to make your computer portable.

A laptop battery is considered dead when it is working at below 5 percent of its allotted factory specifications. You might want to change your laptop’s battery when it is operating at 50-60 percent of its specified capacity – it is the right time to replace the battery.
